Webcomics has a_racted increasing interest in academic studies, which is driven by the demand for this type of content distributed over the internet. This is potentialized when considering its reading in small screens, due to the popularization of this type of mobile devices. However, there is some concern amongst comic artists revolving the design of their works, focusing on reading on these small screen devices, with different visual characteristics. Thus, the present article seeks to understand what differs mobile comics from classic comics, and in what form these characteristics contribute to the reading experience. Ten characteristics were identified, based on an analysis of content platiorms for webcomics available on the Internet, ranging from the best use of vertical screens, infinite screen reading and breathing areas, to small groupings of frames, such as narrative units, allowing the identification of a possible new subgenre of comics.

A partir de uma lacuna percebida entre es-tudos acadêmicos a respeito de histórias em quadrinhos e hipermídia, na qual por um lado, são encontradas diversas publicações tanto sobre histórias em quadrinhos impres-sas como digitais, e, por outro, sobre mídia e tecnologia voltadas para a usabilidade de conteúdos para dispositivos de tela pequena; este estudo se foca no desenvolvimento de histórias em quadrinhos para serem lidas em dispositivos de tela pequena. Para este fim, um guia de parâmetros para os chamados Webtoons é desenvolvido, baseado em uma fundamentação teórica, observação de web-comics nesse estilo em plataformas de conteú-do, e uma pesquisa de campo qualitativa em 3 fases. Tal pesquisa contou com entrevistas com quadrinistas, profissionais de quadrinhos e aplicação do guia como material didático, em busca de um refinamento sucessivo
