The aim of this article is to present the results obtained through the application of the Focus Group technique as part of a process of public participation and involvement of the local community of the municipalities of Leiria, Ferreira do Zêzere and Ourém within the Project CLIMRisk - “Climate change adaptation measures in the management of natural and environmental risks”. The methodology used consisted of discussing natural risk issues with heterogeneous working groups of up to 10 people, representing the local community. Three sessions per group were prepared. The information collected in the sessions was categorised, codified and analysed using the webQDA qualitative data analysis tool. This study made it possible to identify the main concerns and the level of involvement of the participants, which led to a better understanding of how natural risks and adaptation measures contributed to the creation of publicity materials appropriate to the general population for whom they are intended. The materials consisted of a Glossary, a Handbook of Good Practices, an educational game and book markers.
