Este trabalho foi dividido em duas partes experimentais: uma primeira em que se analisou a influência do cloro no crescimento da dourada (Sparus aurata) e uma segunda parte em que avaliou-se o crescimento da dourada (Sparus aurata) submetida a diferentes regimes de alimentação.
No primeiro ensaio, os animais utilizados foram seleccionados de uma população de douradas que já tinham um histórico de tratamento com cloro e de uma população sem histórico de tratamento com cloro. Este começou em 26 de Maio de 2008, com uma população de 540 douradas e com peso médio de 127g.
No segundo ensaio procurou-se, essencialmente, avaliar o crescimento da dourada submetida a diferentes % de ração que consistiu em fornecer 0,40%, 0,80% e 1,20% da biomassa de cada tanque. Os animais seleccionados vieram de três tanques de terra diferentes, uma vez que é nestes que existem douradas de tamanho comercial. Este ensaio começou a 27 de Junho, com uma população de 270 douradas e com peso médio de 359g.
Em ambos os ensaios as douradas foram colocadas em tanques de fibra de vidro, com 7m3 de água e a temperatura foi registada diariamente duas vezes por dia.
