Description
Abstract This project work aims to reflect on the changes and possibilities that digital media bring to the practice of illustration, in the context of communication design. With the evolution of mobile devices, the digital publishing of children's picture books has emerged as a new form of communication, presenting new challenges for the creators. This theme is approached through the development of a theoretical and practical project that reflects on illustration applied to digital formats, being the main focus of the study how illustration can take advantage of the potential of digital media to create objects and narrative content for children. This project proposes a mixed qualitative research methodology: non-interventionist, which consists in case study analysis and interviews with illustration, animation and publishing professionals; and interventionist, which includes the development of a picture book (printed book) and its respective illustrated digital narrative (application). The experimental project is entitled "A Little Fish Out of Water & Other Stories" and aims to create a both visual and narrative universe that suits different formats. It is also intended that this project serves as a contribution to new knowledge in the area of illustration, in terms of transmedia and particularly illustration in digital media.
