Description
No contexto português de início do séc. XX, a imprensa contribuiu para a
difusão dos principais movimentos no âmbito da arquitectura e do design, ao
mesmo tempo que dava a conhecer projectos representativos de uma procura de
afirmação de identidade nacional. No caso da revista A Construcção moderna e as
Artes do Metal, se as tipologias habitacionais, entre outras, são fruto da
imaginação de arquitectos e decoradores predominantemente eclécticos, ao nível
do mobiliário, assistimos à divulgação de novos conceitos patentes em trabalhos
realizados em oficinas de marcenaria artística e especializadas na arte do
entalhe. Esta publicação difundiria peças sediadas no Moderno Estylo, que se
evidenciam pelos seus ornamentos fitomórficos e pela exploração de aspectos
como a lógica modular, padronização de elementos decorativos, funcionalidade e
integração de soluções industriais. Contribuía-se, deste modo, através de imagens
e pequenos textos, para a mudança no gosto das classes menos informadas,
afastadas da vida cosmopolita.
Abstract: In the Portuguese context at the beginning of the 20th century, the press contributed to the spread of major international movements in architecture and design at the same time made known projects representative of a search for national identity assertion. In the case of the magazine A Construcção moderna e as Artes do Metal, if the housing projects, among other, are the brainchild of architects and decorators predominantly eclectic, in terms of furniture, we assist to dissemination of new concepts in patent work done in workshops joinery artistic and specialized in the art of carving. This publication diffuse parts headquartered in Modern Style, which show its phytomorphic ornaments and exploration of aspects such as modular design, standardization of decorative elements, functionality and integration of industrial solutions. It contributed to thereby through images and small text, to change the taste from less informed public far away from the cosmopolitan life.
