Description
Abstract : The present internship report is the outcome of the work developed within two curricular units lectured in ESART Music Teaching Master Degree – “Prática de Ensino Supervisionada” (Supervised Teaching Practice) and “Projeto do Ensino Artístico” (Arts Teaching Project). This report comprises two distinctive parts - the first one, a personal reflection on the work developed within the supervised music teaching internship, the second one, a dissertation about a research project. In the first part some lesson plans are presented, as well as the corresponding teacher reflections on the lessons taught and a brief description of the community, school and students background. The second part embraces the research developed - Classe de Conjunto de Teclas do Conservatório Regional do Baixo Alentejo: estratégias de organização e desenvolvimento curricular (Baixo Alentejo Regional Conservatory Keyboard Ensemble Class: management strategies and curricular development). The total absence of a previous curricular program as well as any kind of pedagogical orientation was the driving flaming spark that started the present research work. Facing this peculiar situation and having some knowledge of Keith Swanwick's C(L)A(S)P model, I decided to implement it in such a way that it can reflect on students learning processes and grasp their perceptions. Hence, each lesson was planned with the purpose of approaching all these five subjects: composition, literature, audition, skills and performance. Regarding the outcomes of this project, the students managed to learn more proficiently some skills worked in the classes. They actively developed a productive sense of teamwork while doing varied activities and benefiting from more resources available in the classroom.
