Description
do género masculino (92,9%) e 1 do feminino (7,1%).
A inclusão do
do atleta.
ABSTRACT: Continued exercise on a scheduled, daily and intense workload can lead to cardiovascular changes, which, although considered physiological in these individuals, may mimic pathological changes that should be observed and followed by competent and experienced sports professionals. The electrocardiogram is a low-cost, easily accessible resting test that allows the - 87 - diagnosis of subclinical pathologies, often in asymptomatic athletes. The objective was to study athletes in two consecutive sports seasons to verify the presence of electrocardiographic alterations in order to characterize them according to the Seattle criteria. It is a prospective, observational longitudinal study in which 14 electrocardiograms of athletes with an average age of 24.5 ± 4.9 years were analyzed, 13 male (92.9%) and 1 female (7.1%). Electrocardiographic alterations were found in 10 of these individuals (71.4%), of which 6 presented alterations that were considered physiological, 2 borderline and 2 with pathological alterations. It was concluded that most of the changes were classified as physiological although they could be considered pathological according to non-athlete specific criteria. The inclusion of the electrocardiogram in the precompetitive evaluation is essential for athlete follow-up.
