Description
Abstract : This work, which is divided into two parts, intends to address the importance of masks, that of vocal technique and character, in the performance of the singer/student and the awareness of both in teaching. The first part refers to the Supervised Teaching Practice held at the Porto Music Conservatory. The internship was carried out with two students, both in the 3rd year of singing, and under the guidance of the cooperating professor Emanuel Henriques. Here in addition to the context of the school environment, all classes attended and taught in the Singing discipline are presented, as well as the planning of the classes taught. In the discipline of ensemble music, which in this case was an opera studio, it comes down to the assisted classes and rehearsals for the final project. The second part addresses the research project and case study. Some important concepts of vocal technique are exposed and the main themes of this dissertation, the mask technique and the interpretation of a character are explored. Finally, the conclusions of the study resulting from the work done with the students were extracted.
