Description
Abstract : This research project aims to highlight the importance of motivation in violin learning, the term being explored and designated the derived factors that influence motivation in the process. We tried to understand how it is verified in current education and if this impact on the student's study and practice of violin is really remarkable, in the most diverse variants. Through the methodology, based on questionnaires with violin students and two exploratory interviews with a violin teacher and student, it was possible to understand, describe and analyze which actors in the motivational process that contribute to the success of a violin student in Specialized Art Education, namely the following agents: student, teacher, school and family. In other words, discovering how these factors condition the motivational process and understanding the role of motivation in the student's music education and learning. The present study adopts a descriptive methodology supported by the analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, in the sense that the investigation is applied to a varied number of violin students from various degrees of Specialized Artistic Education, in particular, the Academia de Música de Paços de Brandão. It is an exploratory and descriptive study, based on qualitative and quantitative techniques. Namely, an exploratory interview with a violin student and a convenience interview with a violin teacher from Specialized Music Education, as well as questionnaires to violin students from the first to the seventh grade of Music Education at AMPB. Through the process of instruments used, it was possible to answer the research questions. In this sense, it was possible to verify that motivation is an important driving force for learning, and a significant relationship can be established between these two processes. The informations obtained reinforce the need for different actors in the teaching-learning process to be aware of the role of motivation, assuming the perspective that this dimension is essentially built on the interaction between internal and external factors (intrinsic and extrinsic motivation), that is, between the learner, the context and their social support network.
